Ponoko

Now, who wants to cut their ideas into sheets of steel or coloured perspex? More to the point, who doesn’t? It’s a tough ask, of course, and something that can only be imagined – that was until Ponoko came along.

Ponoko allows imaginative makers to draw their plans in Adobe Illustrator (or any other vector design suite), upload them to Ponoko's servers and pay for the print out. Sit on your hands and twiddle your thumbs for a few weeks and off in Ponokoland somewhere, the laser cutting magic will take place and they'll post your items back to your door ready for assembly and celebration. Ever used Moo? Well it’s pretty much the materials version of that!

One small word of warning though, their regional printing services use different materials, so you might want to keep an eye on estimated delivery timescales when choosing your favoured colours of plastic.
